Creating Possibility in 2012

The New Year brings the opportunity to give yourself tune-up. A tune-up involves taking the great elements of you and making what are sometimes ever-so-slight adjustments. With careful listening, you can tune up your life so that you truly are living in harmony. To be in harmony, whether in an orchestra or in everyday life, means to connect elements in a way that creates beauty. So how can you create beauty in your life so that 2012 leaves you inspired, motivated and moved?

When I work with clients who express a desire for greater fulfillment and happiness, we use the Harmony Compass™, a tool that uses the principles of neuroscience, positive psychology, communication and learning theory to create the grand and beautiful overtone only possible with committed, dedicated listening.

We start with the assumption that we all have the capacity to be generative, and that change is possible with commitment. Through assessments and a guided inquiry process we identify strengths and begin the process of tuning within the Harmony Compass. Tuning up involves looking at internal processes such as thoughts, beliefs, goals and emotions, mind-body states, as well as external factors such as resources and the environment. We keep end goals in mind, but recognize that when you are the composer of your life, the creative process is not always predictable.

When working with someone who has a specific goal they want to achieve, such as weight loss, or launching a business, we focus on Steady Beat Behaviors, daily habits essential to goal achievement. Implementing and identifying the behaviors is a dedicated process in that involves a continuous cycle of reflection, implementation, assessment, and refining to ensure the identified behavior continues to work.

I hope you are all revved up for 2012, and beginning to think about how you can tune-up and in to 2012. In my next article, I’ll share more ideas for making 2012 your best year ever!
